What's on Page 45?
It's #ChickLitMay, y'all! Some chick lit author friends and I are doing some fun things to celebrate this month.
Today I've been invited to write a post about what you would find on page 45 of either my work in progress, or my newest release. Since I've yet to hit page 45 on my WIP (getting close, though!), I'm going to tell you about page 45 of my newest release Speak Now (or Forever Hold Your Peace).
On page 45 of Speak Now, we are actually in a flashback scene, where Bridgette – the main character – meets Ian – who will eventually be known as, “the one that got away.” Bridgette is a nervous wreck her first day of Freshman orientation, and after falling and scraping up her knees, Ian comes to her rescue, having bandaids in his backpack (he has a worry-wart for a mother). The connection is practically instantaneous.
“So tell me, Bridge from Goshen, what do you want to be when you grow up?”
“I can't really say,” I told him, after agonizing for a few seconds about how to answer that. “I'm still trying to figure it out.”
“Well, don't go into dance,” he said, pointing to my knees. I could feel heat instantly on my face.
“Yes, thanks for that,” I said and rolled my eyes.
